Sliding Door Latest Version available for download!

Postby wayne » Mon Apr 25, 2011 8:20 am

The latest version of Sliding door is always available at:

http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/sliding-door

There was a major change from 1.8.7 to version 2.
The old still works fine, so if you have highly customised it you might be better of not upgrading.
I've only upgraded it to make it easier to setup - so this more applies to people using it for the first time.
Also newer the version has dropdown menus, 3 columns, and a background image.

Ok, I'm a little weirded out.

According to my WP-Admin panel, I'm running version 2.3. (but I dididn't download the new version). Also, all my custom sliding door images reverted back to a default set of images. To get them back to the way they were I guess I should do it like I did the first time?

NEW THEME FROM 2.6 IS DESIGNED SO THAT YOU CAN UPGRADE THE THEME AND YOU WON"T LOSE YOUR IMAGES!!!!
THE IMAGES ARE NOW STORED WITH THE POSTS - NOT WITH THE THEME.

ALSO THE MENU'S ARE SET UP USING HTE BUILT-IN CUSTOM MENUS
**************************************************
HOW TO SET UP THE SLIDING MENUS
**************************************************

1. Go into Appearance - Menus
2. Create a New menu and add 7 Pages or categories to it.
3. A new dropdown will appear on the left called 'Sliding Navigation' Select your new menu here.

**************************************************
HOW TO CHANGE THE IMAGES
**************************************************

1. Make the images using photoshop
You can download the original photo shop file from the theme homepage.
The titles of the images are changed by editing the image in photoshop.
Get any picture, crop it to 320 x 200, then write the text on it, and save it as a jpg.
Try to make the filesize small - in photoshop you do this by 'save for web' and choose medium or low quality - not high.

2. Go to a post and select 'upload image'
3. Select 'use as featured image'. This will set that image to the sliding door for that page.

Yes - upgrading the theme reverts back to original images sorry!
This will be fixed from 2.6 onwards which is a major re-write!

Wayne, today I updated to the new version of sliding windows. Its by far the best theme for Wordpress.

Unfortunately, I have terrible formatting issues. columns are all jumbled, links are gone etc. my pages link to this forum for example.. anyway, I was wondering if I can revert to the previous version somehow. can you help with this or am I out of luck?

thanks in advance for your consideration,
Pete

Excellent theme ... I've been using it proudly on my website for year(s) now (http://www.zomaarfotos.nl).
I was jsut moving hosting providers and this newest version came right in time. On the day I started a refresh of my website.
The new way to maintain the door pictures via the 'featured image' of the pages is very clever.

But ... I do have a question. Where do I post that ?

I have a Gallery 2, so installed the WPG2 and Lightbox plugins.
The WPG2 widget shows some random images of my gallery just fine.
But when clicked they only pop up a lightbox when I do NOT use the Sliding Door theme.
If I choose the theme the pictures just open in the browser as a new page when clicked.

Chrome's resource inspector shows an error : lightbox.js:113

objBody.appendChild(objLightbox);
var objOuterImageContainer = document.createElement("div");
objOuterImageContainer.setAttribute('id','stimuli_outerImageContainer');
objLightbox.appendChild(objOuterImageContainer);
// When Lightbox starts it will resize itself from 250 by 250 to the current image dimension.
// If animations are turned off, it will be hidden as to prevent a flicker of a
// white 250 by 250 box.
if(animate){
Element.setWidth('stimuli_outerImageContainer', 250);
Uncaught TypeError: Object function (){return(arguments[0]!==null&&this.initialize&&$type(this.initialize)=='function')?this.initialize.apply(this,arguments):this} has no method 'setWidth'

I'm not a js, css or php expert. So ... can you help out ? Can the theme be improved or how can I debug this ?

Cheers,
Peter

Hi, I have the same problem with links to this forum. I'm new to this so if anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great. I do like the theme.
